City of Humble hires new city secretary

The Humble City Council hired a new city secretary at its Nov. 11 meeting, a little over one month after the search began.

Former City Secretary Jenny Page, who had served in the position since 2018, retired after working for more than 30 years. The search for her replacement began Oct. 1.

After reconvening from executive session Nov. 11, the council unanimously voted to hire Maria Jackson as the new city secretary. Council Member Charles Cunningham Jr. was absent from the meeting.

“Ms. Jackson brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the position and has an incredibly energetic personality and work ethic that I feel will be a perfect fit for the community and within the city organization,” City Manager Jason Stuebe told Community Impact Newspaper on Nov. 12.

Prior to working for the city of Humble, Jackson served as the city secretary for Missouri City since 2011. She lives in Kingwood, but was born and raised in the Humble area, Stuebe said.

Jackson has a degree in business administration in management and marketing and is a certified professional manager.

In other business, the city of Humble will hold a public hearing at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 9 concerning the charter review commission’s final report, which recommends adapting charters pertaining to the city manager’s position, the mayor and council’s compensation, neighborhood projects, and the annual budget timeline. Members of the public will be allowed to express their opinions on the topic in an allotted amount of time per speaker.
