Keller Police Department taking applications for Citizen's Police Academy

The city of Keller and the Keller Police Department are inviting citizens interested in learning more about the police department to register for the Citizen’s Police Academy.

Participation in the CPA is a prerequisite for those interested in joining Keller’s Volunteers in Police Services, or VIP, program, according to the city’s website. The VIP program allows participants to receive additional training, and assist and provide support for officers in the field to a larger degree.

Registration for the CPA program is open through 4 p.m. Jan. 24, according to the city’s website.

The program meets weekly on Tuesdays beginning Feb. 1 and lasts for 11 weeks at Keller Police Headquarters, located at 330 Rufe Snow Drive.

An application can be downloaded at www.cityofkeller.com or retrieved from police headquarters.

Interested applicants need to be at least 21 years old, live within the city limits of Keller or Westlake, and must not have any felony arrests on their record, in addition to other requirements.
