Metroport Meals on Wheels resumes senior center luncheons in Roanoke

Weekly drive-thru luncheons are returning to the Roanoke Senior Center after a more than two-month hiatus due to restrictions from the coronavirus pandemic.

Sponsored by Metroport Meals on Wheels, a senior center luncheon will take place at the Roanoke Senior Center on June 10 from noon-1 p.m, according to an announcement by the organization.

Luncheons are available to anyone over the age of 60 and can be reserved by calling 817-491-6060, the announcement said.

A nonprofit organization, Metroport Meals on Wheels is celebrating 40 years of serving seniors and other housebound individuals in 2020.

The nonprofit, located at 428 N. Hwy. 377, Roanoke, has served more than 1.6 million meals during that time.

Metroport Meals on Wheels provides a number of services, including home-delivered meals, senior center luncheons and an upscale consignment and retail store.
