An interlocal boundary agreement with the town of Northlake to secure a portion of land near the Roanoke Sports Complex was approved at the Oct. 13 council meeting.
What's happening
Northlake officials will adjust the boundaries near Roanoke Sports Complex, an eight-field facility being developed in conjunction with Play It Forward. A proposed retail portion of the development, less than 1,000 feet wide, was located within the city limits of Northlake, according to city documents.
The change will move the Roanoke city boundary near Cleveland Gibbs Road.
Plans for the 122-acre sports complex were announced in July 2024, according to previous reporting. A portion of the sports complex was expected to open this fall, but construction is still ongoing.
According to a May social media post, Capacity Sports Group is handling the construction with plans for the complex to open in early 2027. Tournaments are expected to start in the spring.
