Fort Worth approves additional funding for Fire Station 37

Fort Worth City Council voted Oct. 15 to approve additional appropriations to close a funding gap and execute construction contracts to replace Fire Station 37.

According to a city news release, the additional $3.4 million in funds were necessary due to increased construction costs. The costs associated with the project, which total $12.9 million, include funding toward:

• Demolishing the existing fire station due to age and condition
• Acquiring new land located at 10600 Alta Vista Road
• Designing and constructing a new three-bay, double-company fire station along with supporting infrastructure and equipment

The news release states Fort Worth City Council also approved additional funding Oct. 15 to close construction cost gaps to replace two other fire stations in the city–Fire Station 16 and Fire Station 26.

The initiative, which was part of the city’s 2022 bond program, is part of a strategic plan to improve fire services across multiple districts, ensuring readiness and rapid response capabilities, according to the news release.
