Carrier Global Corporation, a multinational company that manufactures heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) and refrigeration systems, announced Oct. 22 it will invest more than $600 million into a new manufacturing and engineering center in north Fort Worth.
What’s happening?
Operations at the facility are expected to begin in 2027, according to a news release. The facility will be more than 1 million square feet and create 1,500 advanced manufacturing, engineering and other jobs.
"I'm proud that Fort Worth continues to be one of the top cities in the nation for advanced manufacturing, and this investment by Carrier is just the latest example of the momentum we're building," Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker said. "With the creation of 1,500 high-quality jobs, this project will add to Fort Worth's manufacturing hub at AllianceTexas while strengthening our energy and technology industries for years to come."
The proposed location in AllianceTexas would be at 1501 Distribution Drive next to Wistron and Walmart, according to previous reporting. AllianceTexas is a 27,000-acre master-planned development in north Fort Worth focused on global logistics, per Hillwood’s website.
"A global company of Carrier's scale choosing AllianceTexas underscores our region's momentum in advanced manufacturing and the strength of the workforce, infrastructure and supply chain connectivity that continue to attract major employers,” said Ross Perot Jr., chairman of Hillwood, the development company behind AllianceTexas.

During the Sept. 15 Fort Worth City Council meeting, officials voted to approve an ordinance creating a tax abatement reinvestment zone for Carrier, according to previous reporting.
Brianna Brown, assistant director of economic development, presented the request to bring Carrier to Fort Worth at the Aug. 25 City Council work session.
"The project ... represents the largest single-facility investment that Carrier has made in their history," she said. "It's the first investment of this size in the United States since the 1990s."
The city will offer a seven-year tax abatement of 60% on real property and business personal property, valued at $10.9 million, according to previous reporting. The city will also receive $7.3 million in net new taxes.
"By expanding our U.S. manufacturing and engineering footprint, we are increasing capacity for critical technologies, strengthening supply chain resilience and creating high-quality jobs,” said Carrier Chairman and CEO David Gitlin. “We are proud to partner with the Fort Worth community and the State of Texas as we invest in the workforce, innovation and manufacturing capabilities needed to support our customers' growth for decades to come."
As part of the tax abatement agreement, Carrier must bring 495 jobs by Dec. 31, 2029, with a minimum average salary of $75,000. There would be $261.7 million in estimated additional payroll over the seven-year term, Brown said.
If Carrier fails to meet minimum capital investment, full-time job commitment or minimum average annual salary, it could forfeit or default on the abatement.
