Roanoke police Chief Jeriahme Miller will also be serving as assistant city manager.
In his new role as assistant city manager, Miller will continue to lead the Roanoke Police Department. Other departments now reporting to the assistant city manager’s office include the Roanoke Fire Department and the Roanoke Parks & Recreation Department, according to a city press release.
Miller joined the police department in 2003. He rose to the rank of sergeant in 2006 before promoted to commander in 2012 and then assistant police chief in 2016. Miller has been the chief since 2018.
Miller’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, a master’s degree in public administration and a master peace officer certification from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement. He also earned a yellow brick as a graduate of the FBI Academy, according to the city press release.
