The Local Markethouse is growing its presence in Roanoke through a new partnership with the city.
The overview
The business, which offers locally sourced groceries and products from regional farmers and artisans, will launch a pickup location at Roanoke City Hall starting May 18, said Molly Skinner, who founded The Local Markethouse with her husband, Brandyn.
Orders placed during the first week between May 18-24 will be ready for pickup May 30 from 9-11a.m. at Roanoke City Hall, and deliveries happen on Friday. Customers can also preorder items online each week and pick up their orders Saturdays.
The Local Markethouse also expanded its services into Keller, Southlake and Grapevine, Skinner said.
The partnership came after the locally owned company applied to be a vendor at Taste & Tunes, a community event in Roanoke, which resulted in deeper conversations with the planning team.
"It’s felt like a natural fit for both sides since Day One," Skinner said.
She added the expansion into Keller, Southlake and Grapevine came after receiving strong customer requests from those communities.
“Eating fresh, local food that was raised right is so much better for everyone: your health, the earth, the farmer and the local community.” she said.
Zooming out
The Local Markethouse sells food products from partners that use practices such as regenerative farming, pasture-raised livestock and small-batch production, Skinner said. Products rotate seasonally and can include produce, meats, baked goods and specialty items.
The business’ primary pickup location is in Flower Mound, with the Roanoke location serving as a secondary pickup location, according to a May 2 city of Roanoke social media post.
