A specific use permit for an indoor entertainment facility that will feature billiards and darts was approved by Keller City Council during the June 16 meeting.

The proposed plans for Chalk & Steel Co. will host billiards and darts leagues for adults and youth, along with tournaments, clinics, summer camps and winter camps for kids, and private lessons for pool and darts, according to council documents.
Chalk & Steel Co. will lease a 7,310-square-foot space that has been used for three different gyms since 2010, city documents state. Anytime Fitness was the most recent occupant of the space and closed in 2025, according to city staff.
David Parron, the business' co-owner, said they will have soft-tip dart machines that will allow players in Keller to compete against other competitors across the United States. There will be a heavy focus on amateur play, he said.
The location will have 12 billiard tables and 11 dart boards, eight with steel tip darts and three with soft tip darts, according to renderings shown to council members.

The applicants asked for the hours of operation to be 2 p.m.-2 a.m., Monday to Friday and from 11-2 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
Staying open until 2 a.m. received some feedback from council members. Mayor Pro Tem Shannon Dubberly and Charles Randklev asked about being open late, with the business having a housing development behind it. Karen Brennan asked about the clientele and alcoholic beverages.
Co-owner Jonna Parron said there are only 10 spots at the bar and it is more of an ancillary portion of the business.
“This is far from nightlife, and we did that on purpose," she said. "We want your 5-year-old [to come in.] We want your 99-year-old-plus grandma and grandpa to come in, and we want everybody feeling safe.”
What else?
Jonna Parron said new plumbing and electrical work is being done and the bathrooms are being expanded. A warming kitchen will also be added to the venue.
