Katy ISD’s board of trustees discussed potential attendance boundary modifications ahead of the opening of Elementary School 49 in the district’s northwest quadrant at its June 22 meeting.
The new school, located at 6435 Pitts Road, comes as the district’s northwest quadrant is “growing like crazy” despite the district as a whole not experiencing substantial growth, Katy ISD Chief Operations Officer Ted Vierling said.

Construction for Elementary School 49 began in March and is slated to be completed by June 2027, district officials previously said.
Potentially impacted families and the general public are being notified this summer about the proposed attendance boundary modifications, Vierling said. Residents will have the opportunity to provide feedback through an electronic survey, email, written correspondence or by telephone.
The updated data will be presented to the board in September with final approval scheduled for October, Vierling said. Changes will go into effect in August 2027.
