Voodoo Makeup, a New Orleans-based beauty company, is set to open a storefront in Katy this spring, owner Aimee Carr confirmed.
What they offer
The business offers a range of products including foundation, blush, eyeliner, lipstick and brushes, according to its website. The business also offers makeup tutorials, Carr said.
“We use only natural, clean ingredients—there’s no underlining ingredients that we don’t reveal,” Carr said.
About the owner
Voodoo Makeup first came about when Carr was serving as a makeup artist in Houston and discovered she was becoming ill from black mold found in her home. With a little help—thanks to her husband’s coffee grinder—she created her own all-natural foundation that did not contain any mycotoxins.
Carr said she later got her big break in New York once a producer noticed the makeup she made last minute for a show she was working at.
“I often say that $500 he put in my hand to go buy the product ingredients again is what we started our company with,” Carr said.
After Carr lost her New Orleans store to Hurricane Ida, Carr said she felt the need to move her family back near Houston, the place she lived for 20 years. As soon as she found Katy, she said it reminded her of home.
