Here are four things Tomball and Magnolia residents should know this week.

1. The Tomball ISD Board of Trustees discusses its budget for fiscal year 2017-18 during a workshop session at 5:30 p.m. Monday, July 10, in the John P. Neubauer Administration Building, located at 310 S. Cherry St., Tomball. A facilities assessment, presented by Chief Financial Officer Jim Ross, will follow at 6 p.m. The board of trustees also hosts a regular meeting 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 11.

2. Magnolia City Council meets at 7 p.m. Tuesday, July 11, at City Hall, located at 18111 Buddy Riley Boulevard, Magnolia. The council hosts public hearings regarding annexation of various parcels of land into the city limits as well as amendments to the city's Unified Development Code.

3. Maple Creek Bed & Breakfast hosts a grand opening and open house 5:30-8:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, at 519 E. Hufsmith Road, Tomball. 4. According to the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality, a concrete batch plant is slated for construction at 11516 FM 1488, Magnolia, pending approval of an Air Quality Standard Permit. James Construction Group, LLC filed a permit application May 22, according to the TCEQ database. Community members can submit public comments or request a public meeting about air quality concerns for 30 days after the TCEQ issued a public notice on July 5. Residents within 440 yards of the proposed plant can also request a contested case hearing during the 30-day period. Additional details about the permit application can be found on the TCEQ's website.
