Local food stall Hot Dogs Express Magnolia began operating out of Kitty’s Cafe on FM 1488 in mid-January, according to stall owner Fernando Moreno. The food stall specializes in bacon-wrapped hotdogs and offers a selection of Mexican street food, including tacos al pastor, quesadillas and Mexican-style burgers.

“We make very good food from tacos, quesadillas, tortas and hot dogs [wrapped in] bacon—our specialty,” Moreno said in Spanish.

Moreno said the business previously operated at a Fiesta Mart in the Willowchase Shopping Center for over 10 years but was unable to continue operations after a business contract with the location ended at the end of last year.

“My business was destroyed on Dec. 31,” Moreno said. “I already had 12 or 13 years with that business open in the Fiesta Mart at [Hwy.] 249 and [FM] 1960.”

Moreno said he came to Magnolia in search of a new location to house his food stall and and has since been able to operate Hot Dogs Express Magnolia out of Kitty’s Cafe in Magnolia daily after 3 p.m., thanks to cafe business owner Kathleen Raub.

“For me, really, Hot Dogs Express Magnolia is a miracle,” Moreno said.
