The grant will be used to add materials to the adult Spanish/bilingual fiction and nonfiction collections, according to the news release.
“With the Texas Book Festival grant, we’ll be able to provide reading materials for the community’s growing Spanish–speaking only users, Spanish bilingual users, and Spanish English Language Learner populations," Branch Manager Elaine Taylor said via news release.
More than 150 titles will be added to the existing collection at the Malcolm Purvis Library. Every year public libraries across Texas apply to the Texas Book Festival to receive grant funds intended to update and increase book collections, according to the press release.
“Being awarded the Texas Book Festival grant is not only an honor, but also a reflection of our dedication to literacy and the joy of reading,” Library Director Rhea Young said via news release. “We are thankful for this support, which enables us to inspire and connect with all readers.”
