Construction to install a new playground at Martin Luther King Jr. Park in Tomball began on Feb. 19, according to an announcement posted on the city’s Facebook page.

Construction on the new playground is expected to wrap up by April, according to the city’s announcement. During construction, the basketball court and restroom facilities are still accessible to visitors.

How we got here

During its Sept. 5 meeting, Tomball City Council approved as part of the consent agenda—on which items are approved with one motion without discussion—an agreement with All Play Inc. for the purchase and installation of new playground equipment for $78,611.

There is also construction happening at Matheson Park to install pickleball courts and a splashpad, Community Impact previously reported. Additionally, a draft of the city’s parks, recreation and trails master plan outlined $108 million in projects.
