Texas-based grocer H-E-B will open a new location at 7988 FM 1488, Magnolia, on Wednesday.

The store features wider aisles, a large variety of organic products and a large floral department, as asked for by customers, said Cyndy Garza-Roberts H-E-B Houston Director of Public Affairs.

"Magnolia residents and the surrounding area are going to find things here that are very special," she said. "I think the most important thing that we're looking forward to is serving the Magnolia residents and the surrounding area as well. One thing that makes H-E-B unique is that we really listen to what customers want in their community."

Garza-Roberts said H-E-B is dedicated to serving its communities and has already done so in Magnolia.

"We have what we call a spirit of giving," Garza-Roberts said. "Our commitment is always to give 5 percent of our pre-tax earnings to charities throughout the state of Texas. When we open a new store, we will identify a non-profit in that community itself and we will make a donation to that charity."

During a pre-grand opening luncheon Tuesday, H-E-B officials presented the Magnolia area nonprofit TUFF Kids with a $5,000 donation. TUFF Kids is a newly formed committee within Texans United For Freedom Foundation, a nonprofit organization that supports members of the military and first responders.

"We feel that that's one way of giving back to the communities that help us be successful," Garza-Roberts said.
