The Woodlands Township will discuss Parks and Recreation building renovations, a potential contract for a new cell tower and updates to new permitting fees adopted in 2025, according to the township's agenda for April 23.

The township has allocated $5.74 million to renovate its Parks and Recreation building, according to the meeting agenda.
The Parks and Recreation Department office, located at 8203 Millennium Forest Drive, is approximately 6,400 square feet in size but has not been able to keep up with the township’s office and equipment needs, according to agenda materials. The teams based within the office include:
- Aquatics
- Park operations
- Park planning/construction
- Streetscape division
- Environmental Services Mosquito Operations
The township will consider awarding a $3.96 million contract to Anchor Construction for renovation of the Parks and Recreation building.
Out of the total $5.74 million allocated for the project, $989,790 has been spent on planning and equipment, according to meeting materials. The board will also consider a contract with Workspace Resource for $260,703 for new office furniture.
Any remaining project funds will be used for contingencies during the project, according to meeting materials.
What else?
The township will also be discussing a proposal for marketing and management services for 10 cell tower sites. The board will vote on awarding the bid for a 25-year contract to Diamond Communications, which would pay rent on the sites as well as make a $50,000-per-tower payment to the township.

The township board will also vote on increasing recreation fees. The proposed price increases include:
- Pavilion rentals
- Commercial use fees for areas such as Waterway Square and the Hughes Landing bandshell
- Field usage
- Nonresident volleyball and basketball court usage
- Resident pool pass fees
The board will also set a public hearing May 21 to evaluate updating the fee schedule for submitting applications to the township’s covenant administration. The Covenant Administration Department (CAD) processes permits and applications in The Woodlands for property improvements and standards.
Some of the changes include increasing the cost of requesting a Development Standards Committee variance from $300 to $500 and adding fees for tree removals and parking lot modifications.
