Several projects in The Woodlands Township are underway or planned to begin in 2026, including upcoming work on a water fountain and completion of Fire Station No. 5. This list is not comprehensive.
Water fountain at Waterway Square

Update: The township is working with Halff Engineering on three options to present to the board of directors, which is anticipated to come before the board in the first quarter of 2026, said Chris Nunes, chief operating officer for The Woodlands Township.

Project: A "First Fifty" anniversary sculpture is under construction at the intersection of Woodlands Parkway and Grogans Mill Road to commemorate the community's 50th anniversary in 1974. The cost of the project is $1.2 million, officials said.
Update: The art piece is anticipated to be completed in February, Nunes said.

Project: The Woodlands Township is planning the first phase of a $17.8 million project to remodel the Alden Bridge Sports Park, which will include converting a small grass field into the park's “championship field” with all-weather turf, bleachers and a scoreboard. The improvements will also include 224 additional parking spaces, several new grass fields and a restroom facility.
Update: Bids will be presented to the board Dec. 4 for the Alden Bridge Sports Park, and construction is expected to take about a year, Nunes said. The project was originally slated to begin work in 2025.

Project: The Woodlands Township is constructing a new fire station to replace the original Fire Station No. 5. This follows a number of issues surrounding the old building's condition as part of a $14.5 million package for fire department improvements, according to previous Community Impact reporting. The station is set to have 23,000 square feet of space, which will house the fire department and members of the Montgomery County Hospital District.
Update: Chief Palmer Buck said in November that a move-in date is planned for early 2026, and work on the station was nearly complete.
