Oak Ridge North City Council approved a $235,738 sales tax rebate to concrete company Transco Ready Mix on April 28 following the first year of the company's incentive agreement with the city.
The gist
Transco Ready Mix initially made the agreement with Oak Ridge North in June 2024, as previously reported by Community Impact. The agreement was for the construction company to move its headquarters to the city's Commerce Park.
The incentive agreement, known as a Chapter 380 agreement, is a method by which municipalities can provide tax rebates to a company in exchange for developing the business within the city limits. The agreement with Transco Ready Mix outlines a five-year time period in which a percentage of sales tax collected will be returned to the company in full for the first year and partially over the next four years.
