The Woodlands will be the site of The Chevron Championship in 2023, according to a June 8 announcement form The Woodlands Township and its convention and visitors bureau, Visit The Woodlands.

The Chevron Championship selected the Jack Nicklaus Signature Course at The Club at Carlton Woods for the majors golf tournament held with the Ladies Professional Golf Association, which will be held April 20-23, 2023, according to a news release.

Township officials remarked on the significance of the selection.

“This is exciting news for The Woodlands,” said Bruce Rieser, board chair of Visit the Woodlands. “The Woodlands is known as a great place for golf, entertainment, conventions and leisure travel, and we’re pleased to welcome the elite players of the LPGA Tour to our hometown.”

That weekend will also be the weekend The Woodlands is hosting the Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas event on April 22, according to Ironman Texas officials.

“This is quite an honor for The Woodlands to be selected,” said Gordy Bunch, chair of the township’s board of directors, of the Chevron selection. “This event will give our residents and businesses a great opportunity to see the best golfers in the world right here at home.”

According to information in a news release, the
Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course at Carlton Woods opened in 2001, and it was named the “Best New Private Course in Texas” and the “No. 3 Best New Private Course in the U.S.” by Golf Digest.
