Monarch Park opened in the Village of Creekside Park at 6 Mariposa Woods Drive, The Woodlands, on Sept. 1.

According to a news release from the township, the park was developed as part of the Comprehensive Community Service Agreement between The Woodlands Township and the Howard Hughes Corp. The Howard Hughes Corp. donated 44 acres that the park resides on and The Woodlands Township funded $93,000 for the natural habitat park.

Monarch Park features two ponds, open space reserves, walking and biking trails, forest buffers and specific vegetation to attract the monarch butterfly, according to a news release from Howard Hughes.
Monarch Park was created in efforts to promote conservation efforts of monarch butterflies and offer an outdoor recreational space for the Village of Creekside Park.

The opening of Monarch Park marks 151 parks, 220 miles of trails, and 14 community pools and spraygrounds that Howard Hughes has constructed over the past 47 years in partnership with The Woodlands Township, according to the release.
