10 projects under construction or set to break ground in The Woodlands area in 2019

  1. Metro Park Square
    Tenants at Metro Park Square, a 69-acre mixed-use facility, are slated to begin opening in March. Tenants announced to date include an AMC movie theater, a Hyatt House hotel and a Dave & Buster’s.
  2. Two Lakes Edge
    Two Lakes Edge is under construction at Lake Woodlands Drive and Hughes Landing Boulevard in Hughes Landing. Officials with The Howard Hughes Corp. said the 386-unit complex is slated to open in spring 2020.
  3. Venetia Grove
    Officials with The Howard Hughes Corp. announced in December a Toll Brothers model home for Venetia Grove, a new neighborhood in the Village of Creekside Park, is expected to open in the first quarter of 2019.
  4. Centro
    Construction on Centro, a mixed-use development in Shenandoah east of I-45, began in November, according to developers Palmetto and Palmetto MDR. The 13-acre, two-phase project will include 96 single-family homes and 18 detached live-work units as well as commercial space. Officials with Palmetto said homes in the area are expected to open to residents this summer.
  5. Marcel Town Center
    Marcel Town Center began opening to tenants in late 2018 and is slated to feature several restaurants, such as Noe’s Crepes Coffee & Tea, Tapped Drafthouse & Kitchen and World’s Burgers as well as shops, including Apricot Lane Boutique, which held a soft opening in mid-December, and The Adventure Begins Comics & Games, slated to open Jan. 21.
  6. Suchma Elementary School
    Suchma Elementary School is under construction at 10261 Harper’s School Road, Conroe, near The Woodlands’ Harper’s Landing neighborhood. The K-6 school is expected to open in time for the 2019-20 school year in August.
  7. Augusta Woods Village
    Augusta Woods Village is wrapping up construction along Kuykendahl Road near Augusta Pines Drive. The 8,700-square-foot retail center is already home to locations of Zazza Pizza Cafe, SubZero Ice Cream and Verizon. It will also feature a location of Chick-fil-A, slated to open this summer.
  8. East Shore
    More homes will be added to the East Shore neighborhood west of the clubhouse. Construction to clear land and right of way began in December and will wrap up in the second quarter of this year, after which new home construction will begin, according to officials with The Howard Hughes Corp.
  9. Cathedral Lakes
    Cathedral Lakes is under construction at the northwest corner of I-45 near Spring Creek. The 150-acre, mixed-use development is slated for completion in 2022 and will feature single- and multifamily housing options, medical offices and a location for Northside Lexus as well as retail sites and restaurants, according to officials with Grace Woodlands Church, which owns the land.
  10. Creekside Park West
    Construction on Creekside Park West, a 12-acre retail center located near Kuykendahl Road and West New Harmony Drive, began in December and is expected to be complete in late 2019. Officials with The Howard Hughes Corp. said the center will be anchored by a Moviehouse & Eatery and will also feature retail spaces and outdoor amenities.
