Big Mammas Home Cooking will soon open a new bar and restaurant in Missouri City.

The Southern food-focused restaurant will have its soft opening April 6 at 8731 Hwy. 6, Ste. 100, Missouri City, with hours of operation from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., the restaurant initially announced March 30 on its Facebook page.

With the soft opening, Big Mammas Home Cooking will offer a limited menu. The restaurant will serve a variety of soul offerings, including fried chicken, smothered pork chops, red beans with sausage, mac and cheese, and banana pudding, according to the restaurant website.

Big Mammas Home Cooking will open a new restaurant after the success of Big Mammas Cooking on Wheels, which opened in fall 2013. Owner O’Neill Gilbert—self-taught cook; oldest brother of six siblings; and coach for the Texas A&M University football team, the Houston Oilers and eventually the Tennesse Titans— will bring the new restaurant to Missouri City. www.bigmammashomecooking.com
