Secaucus, New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics announced in January it will be acquiring dozens of laboratories within the Memorial Hermann Health System. The acquisition, covering most Memorial Hermann Diagnostic Laboratories operating assets, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2020, Quest said in a Jan. 27 statement.

According to Quest, the transaction will include around 30 diagnostic lab patient service centers and 60 in-office lab service sites. This includes two locations along the Grand Parkway in Sugar Land and one location in Sienna Plantation in Missouri City.

Following the acquisition, Quest will provide management services at each of Memorial Hermann's nearly two dozen hospital laboratories, although those spaces will remain under the Houston-based hospital system's ownership. In addition to the lab acquisitions, Quest will become the Memorial Hermann Health Plan's sole preferred laboratory services provider.
