Missouri City residents are expected to see the same tax rate for the third year in a row.

What residents need to know

The tax rate proposal, which was approved by City Council at an Aug. 18 meeting, keeps the city’s tax rate at $0.570825 per $100 valuation for fiscal year 2025-26.

Chief Budget & Performance Officer Bertha Alexander said the city’s tax is a combination of the:
  • Maintenance and operations tax rate at $0.455029
  • Interest and sinking tax rate at $0.115796
The proposed tax rate is below the no-new-revenue rate of $0.577832 and voter-approval tax rate of $0.600699, Alexander said.
Zooming out

Out of 10 neighboring cities in the Greater Houston area, Missouri City ranked in the middle of the pack for FY 2024-25 rates, with only Sugar Land, League City, Conroe, Pasadena and Friendswood ranking lower, Alexander said.
Going forward

A tax rate public hearing will be held at a Sept. 15 City Council meeting, followed by budget and tax rate approval that same night, Alexander said.
