Unofficial final results from Fort Bend County show two new faces—Adam Schoof and Kristin Tassin—will take seats on the Fort Bend ISD board of trustees.

What you need to know

Schoof secured Position 2 against three other candidates with 35.16% of the votes, or 4,478 votes. Candidate Rizvan Quadri was closest behind with 30.12% of the votes, or 3,836 votes.

Schoof will take the seat of former board president and trustee Judy Dae, who chose not to run for re-election.

Meanwhile, Tassin unseated incumbent Kristen Davison Malone for Position 6; Tassin garnered 31.84% of the votes, or 4,037, versus Malone's 26.8%, or 3,398 votes.

In their own words

Schoof, a law enforcement officer and owner of a property management company, said in a questionnaire to Community Impact he ran for the position because teachers are underpaid and "under tremendous pressure."

In a May 4 interview, Schoof said he'll prioritize board relations and work to build a culture on the board where "we can accomplish things in a timely manner."

"I'm humbled that the community has faith in me, and I vow to hold myself to a high level of integrity and be a steward to the district," he said.

Tassin, a former FBISD board president and attorney, said in her questionnaire she chose to run for the FBISD board again for various reasons, including the district's special education noncompliance status and budget challenges.

Tassin didn't return Community Impact's request for comment as of press time.

In an emailed statement, Malone thanked supporters and extended congratulations to Tassin and Schoof.

"I want to express my deepest gratitude for the opportunity to have served as a trustee for our diverse and beautiful community," she said. "While I must acknowledge the disappointment of not being re-elected, I have peace and a great gratitude to the board and FBISD administration for the collective work we accomplished."
