From Nov. 3-17, community members are encouraged to participate in the online survey to share thoughts on three calendar options developed for the upcoming academic year.
The options
According to the district’s website, each calendar starts mid-week and ends before Memorial Day. However, the exact dates vary, including:
- Calendar A from Aug. 11, 2026-May 27, 2027
- Calendar B from Aug. 7, 2026-May 27, 2027
- Calendar C from Aug. 5, 2026-May 25, 2027
How we got here
The calendar options, which all include 187 teacher contract days, were developed by the FBISD Calendar Committee with input from students, teachers, principals, parents, administrators and community representatives, including members of the board of trustees, per the website.
The requirements included:
- At least 75,600 operational minutes, with a minimum bank of 840 additional minutes for inclement weather or safety issues
- Teacher professional development and planning time
- Two weeks for winter break and one week for fall, Thanksgiving and spring breaks
The FBISD Calendar Committee will review the community’s feedback and suggest a calendar for board approval in January, per the website.
