The Lamar CISD board of trustees called for a bond proposition to be placed on the November election ballot totaling $15 million, according to a news release.

After discussion on whether the bond amount should be split into multiple bonds, the board opted for a single bond proposition to pay for the following renovations and improvements to Traylor Stadium:

  • Bleachers
  • Foundation repairs
  • Turf replacement
  • Installation of LED lighting
  • Roof and locker room repairs

In their own words

“Beyond the aesthetic enhancements, these renovations prioritize safety and functionality,” Lamar CISD Superintendent Dr. Roosevelt Nivens said in a statement. “We have to make sure that our students, our staff and our parents are going to a facility that is structurally sound.”

Cost to the district

The bond will not increase the overall tax rate, which was lowered during the Aug. 15 meeting by $0.928 per $100 valuation, nearly a 10 cent decrease from the previous year, which was sufficient to fund the 2023 bond referendum, according to the statement.
