A dedication ceremony for the final trail connecting Herman Little Park in Spring to three nearby parks will be held at noon March 25 at Herman Little Park, located at 18660 Casper Drive.

The new trail is a part of the Timber Lane Utility District’s phased expansion of the Cypress Creek Hike and Bike Trail System.

The TLUD—which provides water, sewer, law enforcement and park services to 10 subdivisions in north Harris County—has funded roughly $1.65 million of the $6.8 million spent on hike-and-bike trail projects since March 2017 linking Herman Little Park to Cypress Creek Park, Timber Lane Park and Mercer Botanic Gardens. The remainder of the project is being funded through Harris County, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department, and federal grants and assistance.

According to TLUD board member Bud Gessel, the final connector will link Herman Little Park to Cypress Creek Park with a trail passing beneath the Hardy Toll Road.

“This is an integral part of the east section of the Cypress Creek Greenway,” Gessel said in a March 18 news release. “These projects have shown that park areas can increase the property values of our neighborhoods and improve the health of our entire community by allowing our residents to be more active and enjoy the outdoors.”

With the newly completed trail, Gessel said seven neighborhoods within the district now have access to the interlinking trail system, including North Hills Estates, Lynwood Estates, Highland Glen, Park Spring, Timber Lane, Werrington Park and Cypress Terrace.

Harris County Precincts 3 and 4 Commissioners Tom Ramsey and Jack Cagle will be on hand for the dedication ceremony, officials said.
