After less than one year in business, Contender eSports announced the permanent closure of its Spring location at 9702 Spring Cypress Road, Ste. 114, via Facebook on July 7.

Owned by husband and wife Adam and Erin Berger, Contender eSports first opened its Spring location Oct. 26. The gaming center hosted individual gaming, tournaments and lock-ins, and it also featured a private room to host birthday parties and team-building events.

"We are sad to announce that Contender eSports will close permanently at the end of the day Wednesday, June 8," the statement reads. "Due to the current COVID-19 environment, we can no longer continue to operate with a safety guarantee to our staff nor our customers. We have greatly enjoyed building the Contender eSports community and we hope to stay in touch with you all. Our hearts are heavy with this decision, but we know something good will come out of it in the long run."

According to the post, the business will begin liquidation sales soon and final pricing on all the equipment will be posted via the business's social media. Items for sale will include 28 PCs, 45 24-inch 240hz monitors, 50 desks, 50 chairs, 16 Xbox One Xs (1TB), Switches and peripherals.

"If we cannot give you a gaming center to socialize in, then we can provide you the equipment to get started at home," the statement reads. 713-857-0852. https://locations.contenderesports.com/spring-tx
