Secaucus, New Jersey-based Quest Diagnostics announced in January it will be acquiring dozens of laboratories within the Memorial Hermann Health System. The acquisition, covering most Memorial Hermann Diagnostic Laboratories operating assets, is expected to close in the second quarter of 2020, Quest said in a Jan. 27 statement.

According to Quest, the transaction will include around 30 diagnostic lab patient service centers and 60 in-office lab service sites. Following the acquisition, Quest will provide management services at each of Memorial Hermann's nearly two dozen hospital laboratories, although those spaces will remain under the Houston-based hospital system's ownership. In addition to the lab acquisitions, Quest will become the Memorial Hermann Health Plan's sole preferred laboratory services provider.

"Memorial Hermann is a marquee health system nationally recognized for safe, high-quality care. Their decision to choose Quest underscores our unique ability to optimize lab strategies for health systems, with capabilities ranging from lab management and reference testing to acquisition," said Steve Rusckowski, Quest Diagnostics' president, chair and CEO, in a statement.

Memorial Hermann currently operates a diagnostic lab out of the Memorial Hermann Convenient Care Center in Spring, located at 7474 N. Grand Parkway W. Level 1, Ste. 400. A full list of the hospital's diagnostic lab locations can be found here. 713-222-2273. www.memorialhermann.org
