April 23: Empower young leaders
Support the roughly 500 female students from Spring ISD who are attending the third annual Girls’ Empowerment and Leadership Summit. Community members can get involved by donating new items to be given to students attending the event, pledging a monetary sponsorship or speaking at the event. April 24: Chow down on crawfish
Consume all-you-can-eat crawfish at this Crawfish Boil and Family Fun Day event. A cornhole contest and silent auction will be held and a children’s zone will also be set up with games and face painting. Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund for high schools in Tomball, Magnolia and Montgomery ISDs. Noon- 5 p.m. $35 (presale), $40 (day of), $15 (children 12 and younger). April 30: Craft a card
Make a card to thank mom just in time for Mother’s Day at this “Crafting with Charmane” event hosted by the Barbara Bush Branch Library. Decorate the card with flowers, kind words or whatever else mom would appreciate. Advanced registration is required. April 30: Support a local cemetery

April 29-May 1: Celebrate whiskey weekend
Sip whiskey samples, try whiskey-themed foods and learn more about the booze at City Place's "HTX Whiskey Weekend" event. A multi-course outdoor dinner, cocktail seminar and live music event featuring whiskey samples are just some the festivities planned. Times, prices and locations vary by event. May 6: Explore a nocturnal trail
Set off on a six-mile nighttime bike ride with the staff of Harris County’s Trails As Parks in honor of national bike month. Bikers must be 18 or older and are required to wear helmets. May 7: Race for safety
Attend a 5K fun run benefiting the Kailee Mills Foundation to support efforts like seat belt safety awareness and families who have lost someone in a car crash. The event will also feature a dunk tank, food, music, games and educational information. May 7: Run in a foundation 5K
Participate in a 5K fun run hosted by the Klein ISD Education Foundation by walking, jogging or running in this race that begins at Klein Memorial Stadium. May 7-8 and 14-15: See a Jane Austen musical
Enjoy this modern take on Jane Austen’s classic novel “Emma a Pop Musical” performed by Playhouse 1960.
