Klein ISD’s Krimmel Intermediate School will be getting a new $7.5 million gym, thanks to the district’s bond program approved by voters in May 2022.

A closer look

On Sept. 8, KISD’s board of trustees unanimously approved the initiation of the gym addition for Krimmel. The new facility will be the school’s second gym, said Danny Phillips, KISD executive director of capital projects, in a Sept. 11 email.

Construction on Krimmel’s new gym is expected to begin in May 2026 and wrap up by May 2027, Phillips said. The project will be similar to gym additions at Doerre, Kleb, Klein, Schindewolf and Strack intermediate schools.

Schindewolf Intermediate School’s gym project included features such as new bleachers and climate control systems, as previously reported by Community Impact.
