According to the city’s website, natatorium repairs will include the following updates:
- Removal, refinishing and re-installation of existing pool bulkhead units
- Installation of new gas heaters for both the competition and activity pools
- Replastering of the competition pool
- Replacement of the liquid chemical treatment system with a safer, commercial tablet-based system
- Replacement of the ultraviolet sanitation system
- Replacement of the existing mechanical system for main filtration
Pearland City Council awarded $1.9 million for the repairs at an April 24 meeting.
What else?
To compensate for the closure, those who have an annual membership for either the entire recreation center or a natatorium-only membership will receive a complimentary three-month extension once the natatorium reopens, according to the city’s website.
Those with a natatorium-only membership will receive extended access to the recreation center while the natatorium is closed for repairs.

The natatorium is anticipated to reopen on Sept. 23, according to the city’s website.
