After not holding events in 2020 and 2021, the 5K Pear Run is slated to be held again May 7, the city of Pearland announced in a Feb. 11 news release.

The path will begin and finish at Independence Park, 3449 Pearland Parkway, Pearland, according to the news release. Participants who finish the event will receive medals, and early registrants will receive T-shirts.

The run could be susceptible to delays or cancellation depending on if the area is struck with severe inclement weather May 7, the release says.

Registration is open for all ages and will cost $35 until May 6. Anyone who wants to register the day of the event will need to pay $45, according to the release.

The Pear Run is a fundraiser traditionally held each year that raises proceeds for the Pearland Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association, a nonprofit that aids the Pearland Police Department, such as with nonbudgeted needs for the department, said Heather Baker, a director for the nonprofit.
