Zonda officials did not make any changes to the 10-year enrollment forecast compared to the November presentation.
The district is still slated to grow by nearly 20% by 2034 compared to this school year, according to Zonda documents.By the 2025-26 school year, Pomona Elementary, Meridiana Elementary, McNair Junior High and Shadow Creek High School are projected to reach overcapacity, according to Zonda.
By the 2031-32 school year, the following schools are projected to reach overcapacity:
- Barbara Bennett Elementary
- E.C. Mason Elementary
- Bob and Betty Nelson Elementary
- Nichols Mock Elementary
- Pomona Elementary
- Bel Nafegar Sanchez Elementary
- Jackie Doucet Caffey Junior High
- Iowa Colony Junior High
- Rodeo Palms Junior High
- Iowa Colony High School
- Manvel High School
As part of the 2024 bond that passed in November, the district is slated to build two new elementary schools, a new junior high school and a replacement campus for Stevenson Primary and Walt Disney Elementary. Part of the bond will also fund land acquisition for future school sites, according to bond documents.
These new campuses are aimed at addressing the district’s projected growth, officials said.
Construction for the new campuses will have the following timeline:
- New elementary school No. 1: start in October, open in August 2027
- Replacement elementary school: start in October 2026, open in August 2028
- New elementary school No. 2: start in November 2028, open in August 2030
- New junior high school: start in May 2027, open in August 2029
According to Zonda, the district has the following ongoing housing developments:
- 61 actively building subdivisions
- 30 future subdivisions in various stages of planning
- Groundwork underway on about 1,426 lots within 12 subdivisions
- 722 lots delivered in fourth quarter of 2024
