Pearland ISD trustees to consider 2025-26 pay increases, stipends for staff

A salary compensation increase totaling nearly $8.4 million along with roughly $310,000 in stipends will be considered by Pearland ISD’s board of trustees at its June 10 meeting.

The overview

After the passage of House Bill 2, a statewide school funding package that will send $8.5 billion to public schools over the next two years, PISD’s board will vote on compensation for teachers who have completed three or more years of teaching, according to district agenda documents.

If approved, teachers who have three to four years of experience will receive $2,500, and teachers with five or more years of experience will receive $5,000, district documents show.

PISD’s administration is recommending that teachers with less than three years of experience, as well as any nonteacher, receive a 3% pay increase, according to district documents.

What else?

In addition to pay raises, PISD trustees will also consider giving out over 50 stipends, totaling about $310,000, according to district documents.

Stipends at PISD have not been touched in over a decade due to prior constraints on funding, district documents note.

Also of note

While the board will consider the compensation package, they will reserve the right to readdress a mid-year supplemental payment for employees depending on the district’s projected fund balance, according to district documents.

As of its last board meeting in May, the district is projecting a shortfall of over $1 million for fiscal year 2025-26, as previously reported by Community Impact. However, this shortfall includes a 2% general pay increase and did not include possible funding from HB 2.
