The design for the first new elementary school from the district’s 2024 bond was presented at Alvin ISD’s May 13 board meeting.
The school is slated to open in fall 2027 and will be located at Canterra Creek, a master-planned community located in northern Iowa Colony along Highway 288 on County Road 57.
The overview
The new elementary school is currently in its design and documentation phase until mid-July, and will be planned by Stantec Architect, a global engineering, architecture and environmental consulting firm.

The future junior high school side will also reside next to the new elementary school, according to a presentation by Stantec Architects.
The junior high school will begin construction in May 2027 and open in August 2029, as previously reported by Community Impact.

The school will have the following floor plan inside with entrances near the gym, in the cafeteria and in the front through a security vestibule, according to diagrams from Stantec.

The new elementary school will go through the following timeline:
Mid-July-September: bidding and permit
October-February 2027: construction
March 2027-July: move in
August 2027: opens
