The hospital has a 24/7 emergency room, pediatric emergency care, sports injury emergency care, full-service radiology and lab services, according to the hospital’s website.
The hospital will employ over 100 staff, according to previous reporting, including:
- 25+ physicians
- 40+ registered nurses
- 75+ ancillary medical staff
- 12 beds for ER
- 3 beds for critical care
- 5 beds for in-patient care
Though Friendswood has existing smaller-scale medical facilities, including urgent care and emergency rooms, there were formerly no hospitals in the city, according to previous reporting from Community Impact.
Construction for the $25 million microhospital began in late 2023 in a space formerly occupied by a Walgreens, according to previous reporting. The hospital was originally slated to open in 2024, but was set back due to delays caused by construction supply issues.
What they’re saying
At the event, emergency care physician and hospital owner Suchmor Thomas presented a $100,000 check to Friendswood ISD and Clear Creek ISD to support teachers at schools in those districts.
“We are so blessed in Friendswood that we can have a hospital here that we can call our own hospital,” said Mayor Mike Foreman, who also attended the event.
