Here's the latest information on four transportation projects—two funded by the city of Humble and two by Harris County—in the Lake Houston area. This list is not comprehensive.
Upcoming projects
1. Humble traffic light upgrades
Project: This project will upgrade “outdated and deteriorating” Humble-area traffic lights, as previously reported by Community Impact. Lights included in the project are located at three intersections: South Houston Avenue and Isaacks Road; North Houston Avenue and Townsen Boulevard; and West Townsen Boulevard and Walmart Entrance Drive. Larry Young Paving was awarded a $314,960 construction contract for the project in September.
Update: Submittals for the project have been approved, and project officials are waiting on information from major suppliers before construction begins, according to Dec. 11 Humble City Council meeting documents.

2. 7th Street, Wilson Road drainage improvements
Project: Drainage improvements will be completed from 7th Street to the FM 1960 Bypass; and from Wilson Road until the road’s intersection with Treble Drive, according to Dec. 11 council meeting documents. Representatives for HDR Inc., the engineering firm for the project, have met with the Texas Department of Transportation and Harris County Flood Control District for the project.
Update: HDR and Humble city leaders will meet about the project in January, according to Dec. 11 meeting documents.

3. Timber Forest Drive, Greens Road traffic light
Project: A new traffic signal will be added at the intersection of Timber Forest Drive and Greens Road in Atascocita.
Update: The project is still being designed, but construction is estimated to finish in the third quarter of this year, said Jeannie Peng, communications manager for Harris County Precinct 3, via a Jan. 8 email. Previously, work was expected to begin in 2027.

4. West Lake Houston Parkway traffic lights
Project: Traffic lights will be installed at five West Lake Houston Parkway intersections: Kings River Drive/Kings Lake Estates Boulevard, Firesign Drive, Lonesome Woods Trail, Pine Cup Drive and Upper Lake Drive.
Update: The project is currently being designed, Peng said Jan. 8.
