The big picture
Curry had lived in Humble since 1952, serving in Place 1 on Humble City Council for about 27 years, Funderburk said Jan. 8.
“He took great pride in being from Humble, and he loved being old Humble, and I love that about him,” Funderburk said. “Serving on City Council, he was very proud of everything that was accomplished during his time ... all of the progress that's been made. He was heavily involved and his contributions were many.”

Funderburk said in addition to serving on City Council, Curry also:
- Graduated from Humble’s local high school in 1964
- Served in the U.S. Air Force for four years, including in Vietnam from 1968-69
- Worked for Humble ISD for 30 years
- Served as a master for Humble’s Masonic Lodge

Curry’s council spot is currently vacant, and his most recent term was slated to be up for election in 2027, according to the city’s website.
Via a Jan. 12 email, City Manager Jason Stuebe said the next steps for filling Curry's spot are still being considered.
