Multiple dessert shops opened in the Lake Houston area during the last year with offerings ranging from cookies and cakes to milkshakes and ice cream.

A closer look

Locally owned shops—such as Sweet Granny Bea’s, La Real Michoacana Paleteria and Milky Shake—and national franchise Crumbl Cookies opened in the Lake Houston area in 2023.

Sweet Granny Bea’s, which specializes in baked goods, opened in Humble following the opening of its Kingwood location in 2017.

Milky Shakes and La Real Michoacana Paleteria each opened in Porter last year. The shops offer a variety of frozen treats, including ice cream and milkshakes.

Crumbl Cookies, which has more than 900 locations across the U.S. and Canada, opened in New Caney. The franchise offers an assortment of specialized cookies.
