What began in 1990 as an Humble grooming facility has grown into Dogs Day Inn, a trusted dog grooming and boarding facility serving pet owners in Kingwood and Atascocita.
Fueled by his love for pets and growing demand for dog grooming and boarding services, Jim Jones built a business that offers dogs and cats a home away from home, while giving pet owners peace of mind. Dogs Day Inn opened in Atascocita in 2006 and expanded to Kingwood in 2016.
A family affair
An entrepreneur at a young age, Jones first started his career by running a used car lot at the age of 22 alongside his brother, before discovering a stronger calling in pet care. Today, Jones operates two pet resorts in Kingwood and Atascocita, while his brother owns two additional pet resorts in Cypress and Katy.
After 36 years, Dogs Day Inn Pet Resort in Kingwood and Atascocita, is now solely owned by husband and wife duo Jim and Gina Jones.
“This year marks an incredible milestone, 36 years of Dogs Day Inn Pet Resort, and we couldn't have done it without [our customers],” Jones said. “Thank you for trusting us over the years to love and care for your furry family member like our own.”
The local pet resort most recently transitioned to be more hands on with day-to-day operations. Jones said he now directly manages the Atascocita location with help from the next generation—his sons Brandon and Dylan Jones—who are training to continue the family legacy.
Meanwhile, the Kingwood location welcomed a new manager, Susan James, in January last year.

What’s special about it?
At Dogs Day Inn Pet Resort, pet owners can find more than quality pet care, Jones said. Beyond pet grooming, daycare and training, four-legged family members are provided with a safe and comfortable environment while pet parents travel.
With a staff of over 10 trained professionals, Dogs Day Inn provides each pet with the individual attention they need. Along with large fenced yards where pets are taken out three times a day, the pet resort offers pools, large play spaces, separate cat condos and a clean environment.

In addition, the facility offers suites equipped with color televisions with programs suitable for animals. Jones said first-time customers are provided with a free daycare experience to ensure their pet is familiar and comfortable with the environment before boarding.
Most recently, Dogs Day Inn added a new loyalty program in which customers earn 5% in rewards with every visit as well as an improved check-out policy in which guests checking out after noon are charged a half-day rate instead of a full-day rate.
