The city of Katy has issued a boil-water notice to all Katy residents, according to a 4:15 a.m. press release Feb. 17.

The city's water distribution system has been affected by recent winter weather conditions and freezing temperatures, the release said. As such, its disinfection system is unable to function properly, and water production will be forced to stop at some plan sites, it said.

To ensure water is safe to drink, cook and consume, residents should bring water to a vigorous boil for two minutes.

The city of Katy water system will notify customers when the boil-water notice has been lifted, the release said.
