Designated Katy ISD schools are providing free breakfast and lunch for kids age 18 and younger until July 28, according to a May 27 news release from the district.

Morton Ranch Junior High School started providing meals on May 31 and will stop on July 14. Four other schools—Stockdick Junior High School, Mayde Creek High School's ninth-grade campus, and Schmalz and West Memorial elementary schools—will start offering summer meals on June 6, according to the district. Meals will be available from Monday-Thursday, with breakfast at the elementary schools being served from 7:30-8:20 a.m.

Morton Ranch Junior High School, Stockdick Junior High and Mayde Creek High will not provide breakfast, according to the district. However, lunch will be from 9:30-11 a.m. at the three campuses, according to the district. Other lunches at the elementary schools will be from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Meanwhile, KISD's Opportunity Awareness Center will only offer meals on June 14. Breakfast will end at 8:15 a.m., and lunch will be from 10:30 a.m.-noon.

Meals will end on June 30 for Schmalz and West Memorial elementary schools. Meals at Stockdick Junior High will end July 21, while meals at Mayde Creek High School will end July 28, according to the district.


Meals will be served in the school cafeteria, said Donna Pittenger, KISD's nutrition and food service executive director, in the news release. All meals must be eaten on campus. Parents are welcome to purchase a meal to enjoy with their children.

Children must be present to receive breakfast, and identification is not required, according to the district.
