In a nutshell
At a Nov. 18 meeting, Katy City Council approved a $310,310 contract with Traffic Systems Construction Inc. for the addition of a traffic signal at the intersection of Morton and Katy Hockley roads.
The project will be funded by Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County funds, according to agenda documents.
Zooming out
Katy Hockley Road is also set to be widened from two lanes to a four-lane divided roadway between Clay Road and Morton Road, City Engineer David Kasper said. The $3.43 million project is expected to begin in June and take approximately one year to complete.
Looking ahead
A notice to process was issued Nov. 19, although there is a six month production time for the electronics on the traffic signal, Kasper said.
Construction on the traffic signal is expected to begin in April and will wrap up in July, he said.
