The city of Katy will extend its boundaries by annexing a large portion of unincorporated land in Waller County near I-10.

The backstory

On Dec. 11, Katy City Council voted to annex 143 acres of unincorporated land.

In their own words

Resident David Welna said he had been trying to get his property annexed into the city of Katy.

“We’ve gone through several stages,” Welna said. “At the end of it, Houston extraterritorial jurisdiction would not release us. ... I think this is something that should be brought to light so that the people with property in those areas will be able to be annexed into the city of Katy.”
