Katy ISD board of trustees voted to approve $23.07 million in campus repairs and renovations for nine facilities in the district to be funded by the May 2021 bond amount of $676.23 million, as well as savings from other 2021 bond projects previously completed.

The board first voted to move forward with obtaining cost estimates and scope of the projects during the Dec. 11 board meeting, and voted unanimously to move forward with the projects March 25.

The details

District officials chose Texas Arcadis Inc. as the architect for the renovation of Katy Junior High, and Anslow Bryant Construction LTD to carry out the work. The project’s total cost is $2.85 million.

The on the school will include the following renovations:
  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing repair or replacement
  • Additions including more science classrooms
  • Additional architectural improvements to provide news spaces for current programs
The district chose VLK Architects Inc. for the scope of work for three other campus renovation projects, and the board approved a contract with Stewart Builders LLC. The project will cost a total of roughly $18 million for the three campuses:
  • Katy High School ($16.5 million)
  • Cimarron Elementary School, Nottingham Country Elementary ($1.53 million)
District officials worked with PBK Architects Inc. to create the scope for the track repairs, which is estimated to cost $2.19 million


Beynon Sports Surfaces Inc. was chosen to carry out the track facilities repairs including resurfacing at the five campuses, as they have tracks that have reached the end of their life expectancies, according to the district:
  • Seven Lakes High School ($513,000)
  • Obra D. Tompkins High School ($432,800)
  • Morton Ranch Junior High School ($238,930)
  • West Memorial Junior High School ($479,820)
  • WoodCreek Junior High School ($520,780)

The projects are scheduled to be completed by the start of the 2024-25 school year, according to district documents.
