In anticipation of the 2024-25 school year, Katy ISD will hold a job fair for certified teachers March 23, according to a district news release.

The release cited the increased hiring needs across the district with the addition of two new district campuses, Nelson Junior High School and Freeman High School, which will open this fall, according to the district's website.

Nelson Junior High:
  • Location: 25747 Longenbaugh Road, Katy
  • Capacity: 1,400 students
  • Estimated cost: $55 million
Freeman High School:
  • Location: 7800 Katy Hockley Road, Katy
  • Capacity: 3,000 students
  • Estimated cost: $183 million
Funds for both school were provided by the May 2021 bond referendum, and the new campuses will provide enrollment relief in the northern area of the district that is experiencing rapid growth, as previously reported.

The details

The event will be held at Leonard E. Merrell Center, 6301 South Stadium Lane, Katy, and will be divided into the following grade levels and times:
  • Elementary teaching positions, 8:30-11:30 a.m.
  • Secondary teaching positions, 1-4 p.m.
This event will allow candidates to meet with administrators from both elementary and secondary campuses as well as campus principals, according to the release.

No preregistration or fees are required to attend; however, candidates are encouraged to bring:
  • Proof of teacher certification
  • TEA/SBEC content exam scores
  • A statement of eligibility
District officials recommend candidates complete an application on the KISD website in advance, bring copies of their resume and be prepared for on-the-spot interviews.
