The Tex-Mex restaurant chain served appetizers such as queso, enchiladas, quesadillas, fajitas and house specials, according to the website. It also offered special menus for vegetarian and gluten-sensitive customers.

Brian Bell, vice president of marketing and beverage for Abuelo’s, confirmed in an email that both Houston-area locations in Katy and League City have been permanently closed. Katy’s closure followed the League City location closing in late September.
“The decision to close these locations was difficult but is due to circumstances beyond our control,” Bell said. “We apologize for any inconvenience and thank our customers for their patronage over the years.”
